Classes meet on Monday/Wednesdays or Tuesday/Thursdays from 4:30-7:00pm. Class times during the Summer Quarter vary, see above for details.
We provide all necessary materials and supplies, including a quality camera for each student to check out for the entire quarter. Our custom-designed photography facility is inviting, well-equipped, and well-maintained. Our professional teaching artists are all paid professionals in the field.
SERVICE LEARNING HOURS
Seattle Public School students can earn Service Learning Hours by taking a class with us! See your school counselor for a form, complete our class, and have us sign the form for you!
Please complete the above application and, upon review, you will be contacted to set up a 1-on-1 interview. (Application submission and interview do not guarantee admission into our program.) A non-refundable deposit of $25 will be required to hold your placement, if offered a spot in one of our classes. However, no student will be turned away for lack of funds.
We provide participants with the instruction, resources, and equipment they need to share their unique and personal stories through photography.
Our supportive and inclusive community provides a sense of belonging and safety for youth from a variety of backgrounds, fostering positive connections between underserved youth and adult teachers and mentors while providing individualized attention and support.
Other courses & camps
"Youth in Focus has had a positive impact on my group skills and working with other youth. The age gap ranges from 13-19 and I love how everyone works together and gets along despite the difference in years. If offers a safe space for youth of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities and the support needed. For that I am very thankful. I always feel supported here at Youth in Focus."
